A Little Visit to Vinopolis

DSC00428A few weeks ago I had the chance to spend a weekend in London with two of my favorite ladies, both of whom live in countries other than France. It was a much needed escape and in addition to spending some time with good friends, I had a little time to play by myself. So of course, because my life revolves around wine, I made my way over to Vinopolis.

The “London Wine Tasting Experience,” Vinopolis is perched in a prime location under the Victorian railway arches on London’s Bankside. On the steps of the famous foodie destination, Burough Market, Vinopolis has been bringing the world of wine to London for 16 years. Part educational tour, part tasting and part self-guided adventure, this London landmark is closing its doors at the end of the year. So I made may way down to the South Bank, while I still had the chance.

A Tasting on the Ridge

This post is several weeks overdue but thanks to holiday travel, jet lag and, well, life I’m finally getting around to publish it. Enjoy! 

As per usual, this year I made the trek home for Christmas and New Years. It turned out to be a bit of a crazy and tiring two weeks, but we did manage to carve out a little time for a wine tasting. Originally we talked about Paso Robles, then Napa or Sonoma. Eventually we were all a little too tired for such grand adventures and we turned our attention to the local Santa Cruz Mountains and Ridge Vineyards.

The M2 Wine Tour

DSC_0233I will admit to being very trepidatious about waking up early for the Master 2 Wine Tour, organized and led by the Director of my Master 1 program. The day was cold and promising to be wet, I had no idea what the day’s schedule included and I am the director’s biggest fan. But despite some valid concerns, a few bad moments and the poor weather, the tour turned out to be much better than expected.

Organized in conjunction with the Conseil des Grands Crus Classés en 1855 the day’s theme was…yup you guessed it…classified growths.  Continue reading
